WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE DO?

KIU provides Swahili language training, cultural training, translation / interpretation services and educational material to help people get the most out of their stay in the land of a thousand KARIBU! (welcome).

We are working with everyone! We work with people from a wide range of backgrounds – from tourists to NGOs and from employees of foreign companies to Missionaries and students.

Kiswahili na Utamaduni (KIU) is a company based in Dar es salaam, was established in 1985 under Tanzanian laws of company main aim is to provide Swahili language training, cultural training, Translation/interpretation and education material to help people to get the most of their stay in the land of a thousand welcome(Karibu)

Communicating in a foreign language is a challenge for people engaged in development work in East Africa. During the last 30 years, KIU has developed extensive expertise in enabling expatriates to improve their language skills. As a result, our training has gained a very strong reputation in Tanzania,

A wide variety of pedagogical methods: from Grammar based to communicative and Competency based approach through textbooks, audio-visual aids such as videos CD and DVD, tapes, and pictures, language games and role-plays which make the lessons varied and very functional.

OUR VISION

KIU’s Vision is to be the most respected and successful promoter of Swahili language and Culture in East Africa by making it accessible and interesting for everyone.

We run small groups to assure all individual student needs are met. The groups are formed according to the learning abilities of participants, and KIU applies a very high degree of flexibility in the teaching levels.
